The words melt
on my tongue
like chocolate.
I say the things
that I do not mean.
Silky smooth
the words are
as they coat my tongue
in the lies
that come so easily now.
A lavishness developed
by the desire
to harmlessly please
Love’s diet isn’t
and the sweet decadence
only lasts briefly
as the
chalky aftertaste
of truths untold
on my tongue
like bittersweet
